  • You have been diagnosed with sepsis (a serious infection causing body-wide illness)
  • You are between 18 and 70 years old
  • You were admitted to the hospital within the last 48 hours
  • Your condition is not expected to be terminal (not end-of-life)
  • You do not have severe acute kidney injury
  • You do not have severe chronic liver disease or acute liver failure
