TBS treatment for weight gain from antipsychotics

Schizophrenia

This trial tests a brain-stimulation treatment (TBS) to help reduce increased appetite and weight gain that can happen with antipsychotic medicines. It may be an option if you have schizophrenia and have gained weight after starting antipsychotics, and if you can safely have TBS and MRI exams.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 40 years old
  • You have a diagnosis of schizophrenia
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is at least 25, or you gained 10%+ weight in the past year after antipsychotics
  • You have not had TMS treatment in the past month
  • You take no more than two antipsychotic medicines, and you are not taking antidepressants, mood stabilizers, or other excluded medicines (short-term benzodiazepines are allowed)
  • You can sign the informed consent form
