Who can take part

  • You’re between 12 and 30 years old
  • You have a one-sided ankle injury diagnosed in an emergency or urgent care visit within the last 48 hours
  • You can use a Wi‑Fi enabled iPhone or Android smartphone (with enough storage/memory to run an app)
  • You can read and understand English at about a 8th-grade level (or you have a study interpreter if needed)
  • Before this injury, you could walk on your own without a cane, walker, or similar device
  • Your injury is mainly limited to one ankle (no other body parts or multiple limbs injured), and no confirmed fracture/dislocation is present (except a possible Salter-Harris type 1 growth-plate injury)
