Help planning an opioid taper before knee or hip surgery

Who can take part

  • You are planning your first (primary) one-sided knee or hip replacement surgery soon (within 4 to 8 weeks)
  • You currently take 20 to 90 “MME” of opioid pills by mouth each day, and that dose has been the same for at least 3 months
  • You can be reached by phone reliably
  • You speak English
  • You are not taking certain opioid types like buprenorphine, methadone, long-acting opioid pills, or opioid skin patches
