  • You are having surgery where plaque in the carotid, femoral, or abdominal aorta is removed (peripheral endarterectomy).
  • Your surgeon plans to remove the plaque tissue as part of usual care.
  • You can understand the study and provide informed consent.
  • You are not too ill or unconscious to participate.
  • You are able to communicate sufficiently to take part in the process.
