Studying unstable plaque in the carotid artery

This trial studies the best way to treat people who have a high-grade blockage in their carotid artery but no symptoms. It focuses on blockages greater than 80% with signs of unstable plaque to prevent future strokes.

This study checks how a carotid artery procedure affects thinking and memory. You may be able to join if you’re an adult with significant carotid artery narrowing seen on ultrasound, and you can safely do follow-up MRI scans.

This trial studies how blood flow and brain function change after a carotid artery revascularization procedure (opening a narrowed carotid artery). It may help doctors understand what to expect after treatment, especially in people with significant artery narrowing.

This study looks at the makeup of plaque in the carotid artery (the neck blood vessel to the brain) in people who recently had a stroke caused by that narrowing. Researchers will use MRI and planned surgery to see which plaque components may matter for stroke risk and outcomes.

This study tests whether surgery to remove plaque from a narrowed carotid artery (the main artery in the neck that supplies blood to the brain) helps people who have had symptoms like a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). The goal is to see if this surgery reduces the risk of future strokes.
