Who can take part
- You are 18–75 years old
- You have rectal adenocarcinoma (rectal cancer) confirmed by biopsy
- Your cancer is stage I–III and is expected to be fully removed with clean margins (R0), with no pelvic side lymph node spread
- You can have laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and your health status is fairly good (ECOG 0–1)
- You have not had pre-surgery chemo or radiation
- You are not pregnant, and you can give informed consent
