Who can take part
- You have an invasive anal canal cancer confirmed by biopsy, specifically squamous, basaloid, or cloacogenic
- Your cancer stage fits certain categories (T2 larger than 4 cm, T3–T4, or lymph node spread such as N1)
- You are age 18 or older, and you’re well enough to do daily activities (ECOG 0–2)
- Blood tests are adequate: white blood cells, neutrophils, and platelets are above set minimums; liver and kidney tests are within limits
- You have not had chemotherapy or radiation for anal cancer before, and you have not fully removed the tumor by surgery
- You can safely use birth control and agree to informed consent; if pregnant or breastfeeding, you cannot join
