  • Your health is in the mild-to-moderate range (ASA 1, 2, or 3).
  • You do not have known back (spine) deformities.
  • You can sit upright long enough for an epidural placement.
  • You have not had prior surgery in your lower back (lumbar surgery).
  • You do not have allergies to ultrasound gel.
