  • You’re 18 years or older
  • Your stroke started within the last 72 hours
  • Your doctors confirm it is an acute ischemic stroke and a large (major) brain infarction based on CT scan findings
  • You can sign informed consent to join the study
  • You have no known allergy or intolerance to osmotic medicines
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
