Shorter radiation treatment for high-risk prostate cancer

Who can take part

  • You have confirmed prostate cancer called adenocarcinoma (from biopsy or other cell test)
  • Your prostate cancer is “high-risk,” based on at least one of these: stage T3a/T3b (not T4), PSA over 20 (with special PSA rules if you used finasteride/dutasteride), Gleason score 8–10, or pelvic lymph node involvement on imaging
  • Your prostate size is under 100 cubic centimeters before hormone treatment starts
  • No signs of spread to bones or other organs beyond the pelvic lymph nodes (a special PET scan can be used instead of some imaging tests)
  • You cannot have had prior prostate radiation in the area being treated, and you cannot have had prostate removal surgery or prostate spot-killing procedures
  • You must be able to have prostate MRI for treatment planning, and your health status is acceptable (ECOG 0–2)
