Functional cure for hepatitis B in HIV/HBV co-infection

AIDSHepatitis B

Treatments studied

Part of Digestive system, Immune system & allergy, Infections clinical trials.

This trial tests whether people with both HIV and hepatitis B can achieve a functional cure for hepatitis B. It aims to see if current treatment can be stopped safely after the hepatitis B virus is no longer active.

Peginterferon test for inactive chronic hepatitis B

This trial studies whether pegylated interferon can help people with inactive chronic hepatitis B stay stable or improve outcomes. You may qualify if your virus levels and liver blood tests are currently low and you’ve never used antiviral treatments.

NCT06425341Recruiting· Phase 2
Test injection to keep hepatitis B suppressed

This Phase 2 trial studies an injection (HRS-5635), either alone or with other medicines, to see if it is safe and helps keep chronic hepatitis B under control. It is for people who are already on standard hepatitis B antivirals and have low or undetectable viral levels.

NCT07231276Not yet recruiting· Phase 4
Peginterferon for children with chronic hepatitis B

This trial tests if peginterferon alfa-2b can help children with chronic hepatitis B achieve a functional cure. If your child has had hepatitis B for a while and still has the virus in their blood, this study might be an option.

NCT06920329Not yet recruiting
Peginterferon therapy for hepatitis B with clinical cure

This study tests whether additional peginterferon treatment can further reduce the virus in the liver for people with chronic hepatitis B who have already reached a clinical cure. You would need to have two liver biopsies to check the virus levels.

NCT07573943Recruiting· Phase 4
ASC22 with peginterferon to cure chronic hepatitis B

This trial tests whether combining ASC22 with peginterferon can help people with chronic hepatitis B achieve a functional cure (clearing the virus for good). It's for patients whose HBsAg levels are very low and who are already on stable treatment.

NCT05771402Recruiting· Phase 2
Combination treatment aimed at clearing hepatitis B long-term

This Phase 2 study tests a combination treatment to help people with chronic hepatitis B stop having detectable hepatitis B surface antigen (called HBsAg). If successful, it may move you closer to a “functional cure,” meaning lower ongoing virus activity over time.
