Who can take part

  • You need to have a body mass index (BMI) over 30 (obese) or a difficult airway (Mallampati class III or IV).
  • You must be having general anesthesia and need a breathing tube placed.
  • You cannot have serious lung problems like COPD or asthma.
  • You cannot be pregnant.
  • You cannot have untreated heart disease or kidney failure with high potassium levels.
  • You cannot have a personal or family history of malignant hyperthermia (a serious reaction to anesthesia).
