Using scans to find early pancreas cancer in newly diagnosed diabetes patients

Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (PDAC)

This study will see if people over 50 with new-onset diabetes can benefit from imaging scans (CT or endoscopic ultrasound) to help catch pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma at an early stage. The goal is to screen those who might be at higher risk based on the END-PDAC score.

Who can take part

  • You must be older than 50 years.
  • You must have been recently diagnosed with diabetes based on blood sugar tests (fasting blood sugar, post-meal blood sugar, or HbA1C).
  • You must have a blood sugar test from 6 to 18 months ago that was normal (not higher than 125 mg/dL).
  • Your END-PDAC score must be more than 2 (this is a risk score your doctor calculates).
