Who can take part

  • Be between 18 and 65 years old
  • Have severe lung injury from COVID-19 or other causes with bilateral lung infiltrates and low oxygen levels
  • Have high inflammation markers like IL-6, ferritin, or C-reactive protein
  • Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a body mass index (BMI) of 35 or less
  • Not have serious bleeding issues (low platelets) or low white blood cell count
  • Be free of active hepatitis B, C, or HIV infections
  • Not have other major health problems like autoimmune disease, cancer, or prior organ transplant
  • Not have used certain immune-suppressing drugs or other cell therapies recently
