Who can take part

  • You have a spinal cord injury above the lower back (suprasacral).
  • You have been diagnosed with neurogenic bowel dysfunction and currently use digital rectal stimulation to help empty your bowels.
  • Your bowel routine takes at least 30 minutes or requires 3 or more cycles of digital rectal stimulation.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • Your spinal cord injury or neurological diagnosis happened at least 12 months ago and your condition is stable.
  • You do not have active infections, a colostomy, Crohn’s disease, or serious problems with colon trauma or recent GI surgery.
