This trial tests if a special microscope (confocal laser endomicroscopy) used during a bronchoscopy can help doctors see and diagnose suspicious lung spots more clearly. It may help you if you have a small-to-medium sized spot in your lung that needs a biopsy.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You have a suspicious spot in your lung that needs a biopsy with a bronchoscope (a thin tube through your mouth).
  • The spot must be reachable by the bronchoscope (airway leads to it or doctors are confident).
  • The solid part of the spot must be at least 1 centimeter (10 mm) and the whole spot no bigger than 3 centimeters (30 mm).
  • You cannot be on certain blood thinners that can't be stopped briefly, or have an allergy to a fluorescent dye called fluorescein.
