Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You are scheduled for a partial or complete thyroid lobectomy (removal of part or all of one thyroid lobe).
- You are not at high risk for bleeding (for example, you don't take blood thinners that cannot be paused 5 days before surgery).
- You do not have serious health problems that would require you to stay in the hospital overnight after surgery.
- You live within 50 miles of the hospital or can stay nearby for a few days after surgery.
- You will have someone to help you at home for the first 3 days after surgery.
