Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have knee osteoarthritis diagnosed by a doctor, with moderate to severe joint damage on X-ray (grade 2 or higher).
  • Your knee pain has lasted a long time and hasn't improved enough with other treatments like physical therapy or surgery.
  • You need to be able to wear and take care of an external frame (like a brace with pins) on your leg for 6 weeks, and understand that full improvement can take months after the frame is removed.
  • Your knee is stable enough (not too loose or unstable) and you can bend it more than 100 degrees and straighten it within 10 degrees of full extension.
  • You weigh less than 120 kg (265 pounds) and your BMI is below 35.
