Who can take part
- You have a new, low-trauma fracture (like a fall from standing height) of the hip, upper back, or lower back, and it happened within the last 6 weeks.
- This is your first fracture ever, and you have not been diagnosed with osteoporosis before.
- You are 50 years or older and live in the city where the hospital is (for at least 6 months).
- You have not had any bone density tests or taken any osteoporosis medications in the past 4 years.
- You can read and understand medical information on your own, and you are not in a nursing home or rehab facility.
