This study tests whether a non-invasive device that stimulates the spinal cord can be used safely at home to improve hand and arm function in people with cervical spinal cord injury. You and a companion would learn to use the device with remote support from the research team.

Who can take part
- You are a veteran between 18 and 65 years old.
- You have a cervical spinal cord injury (levels C2 to C8) that is at least one year old.
- Your injury is classified as ASIA Impairment Scale B, C, or D (meaning some movement or sensation below the injury).
- Your hand function scores are above a certain minimum (GRASSP prehension >10 or strength >30).
- You have a companion who can help set up the stimulator at home, an internet connection for video calls, and can travel to the VA Palo Alto Medical Center.
- You do not have uncontrolled heart or lung issues, severe blood pressure swings, implanted devices, uncontrolled spasms, skin sores where electrodes go, or are pregnant/nursing.
