Who can take part

  • You must be an adult (age 18 or older).
  • You must have myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) or be suspected of having it, OR have a new (not yet treated) acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
  • You cannot have related bone marrow disorders like chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML).
  • You must not have received any previous chemotherapy, including hydroxyurea or azacitidine, for MDS or AML.
