Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- You have type 2 diabetes and had weight loss surgery (gastric bypass or sleeve) 1 to 5 years ago
- Before surgery, your BMI was 35 or higher
- One year after surgery, your blood sugar is still high (HbA1c above 6.5% or fasting sugar above 6.9 mmol/L) or you need diabetes medication
- You are willing to take a stomach acid reducer (proton pump inhibitor) during the study
- You attended at least 2 of the 3 routine follow-up visits in your first year after surgery
