Who can take part

  • You have cancer or a suspected tumor in a lymph node, liver, or lung, and your doctor has recommended an image-guided needle biopsy of that spot.
  • The tumor must be at least 1 centimeter (about the size of a pea) to allow clear images.
  • You are 18 years or older and expected to live at least 3 more months.
  • Your blood counts and clotting ability need to be within safe limits (platelet count above 50,000, INR below 1.5).
  • If you take blood thinners, they must be stopped 48 hours before the procedure (or as your doctor advises).
  • If you are able to become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test and agree to use effective birth control.
