Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with stomach adenocarcinoma (a type of stomach cancer) through an endoscopy biopsy.
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- Your tumor requires removal of the entire stomach to try to cure the cancer.
- Your cancer stage, based on a CT scan, is cT2-4aNanyM0 (the tumor has grown into or through the stomach wall, may have spread to nearby lymph nodes, but has not spread to distant organs).
- You have an ASA score of 3 or less, meaning you are in generally fair health for surgery.
- You are able to understand and sign a consent form (or have a family member do so if needed).
- You do not have another active cancer or a past cancer that was treated before this diagnosis.
- Your lymph nodes are not bulky or in the para-aortic area (the CT scan will check this).
- Your cancer does not require removing part of the esophagus along with the stomach.
- You are not pregnant.
