Who can take part

  • You are having lung surgery (removing a lobe or entire lung) through small incisions or open surgery.
  • Your health status is classified as ASA II, III, or IV (meaning you have mild to serious health issues, not severe life-threatening ones).
  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You will have continuous blood pressure monitoring during surgery, which is expected to last over 2 hours.
  • You will stay in the hospital overnight after the procedure.
  • You do not have any of the following: emergency surgery, heart defects like shunts, moderate to severe heart valve disease, irregular heartbeat (including atrial fibrillation), or heart failure with weak pumping function.
