ADHD medication and your genes study

Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

This study looks at how your genes affect your response to Methylphenidate (a common ADHD medication, excluding the quick-release forms). If you live in Western Canada and are starting this treatment, your participation could help doctors personalize ADHD care in the future.

Who can take part

  • You are between 6 and 24 years old.
  • You live in Western Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba).
  • You have a diagnosis of ADHD (any type).
  • You are about to start treatment with Methylphenidate (but not the immediate-release form).
  • You do not have certain other conditions like psychosis, bipolar disorder, eating disorder, autism, or Tourette's.
  • You have not had a liver or bone marrow transplant.
