- You have suspected or confirmed gallbladder cancer that goes at least into the muscle layer (T1b or higher) and was found after a routine gallbladder removal.
- Your doctors have decided you need a more extensive surgery to remove surrounding tissue (radical cholecystectomy) but not the main bile ducts.
- You are healthy enough to undergo this major surgery, as determined by your surgeon and anesthesiologist.
- You have not had major open surgery in the upper belly before (like open liver surgery).
- You are not pregnant.
