Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are in the intensive care unit (ICU) or intermediate care unit with a stay expected longer than 48 hours
  • You have a confirmed or strongly suspected bacterial infection causing sepsis with dangerously low blood pressure that needs medication, and high lactate levels
  • Your immune system is still weakened, measured by a blood test marker (mHLA-DR) taken at least twice, 20 to 72 hours apart
  • You are not on long-term immune-suppressing medicines (except low-dose hydrocortisone for sepsis) and do not have a pre-existing severe immune condition or active cancer
  • You do not have uncontrolled bleeding, low platelet count, very low body weight, or known allergies to the device components
