Arterial Chemoembolization for Desmoid Tumors

Desmoid

Part of Cancer clinical trials.

This trial tests a procedure called arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for people with symptomatic desmoid tumors that are growing and cannot be treated with surgery or cryoablation. The goal is to see if this targeted treatment can control the tumor and relieve symptoms.

Who can take part

  • Your desmoid tumor must be causing symptoms and growing despite previous treatments.
  • You are not a candidate for surgery or cryoablation (a freezing technique).
  • You have a life expectancy of more than 3 months and are generally in stable health.
  • You do not have bleeding problems or a very low platelet count.

Cold therapy for desmoid tumors in adults

This trial tests whether “cold therapy” (cryotherapy) can shrink or control desmoid tumors. It may help adults whose tumors are located in certain body areas where cryotherapy is considered safe.

Predicting desmoid tumor growth after cryoablation

This study looks at whether a special MRI analysis (radiomics) can better predict if a desmoid tumor will grow back after freezing treatment (cryoablation) compared to standard methods. It may help doctors decide on future treatment steps.

Arterial embolization for desmoid tumors

This trial tests a treatment called arterial embolization for desmoid tumors (non-cancerous growths) that are causing symptoms and growing. The goal is to see if blocking the blood supply to the tumor can shrink it or stop it from growing.

Testing a New Drug for Desmoid Tumors

This study tests a new medication for adults with desmoid tumors (rare, slow-growing tumors that form in connective tissue). You may qualify if your tumor has grown recently, causes pain, or has come back after previous treatment.

Freezing vs. medication for growing desmoid tumors

This trial compares freezing the tumor (cryoablation) with standard medication for people with desmoid tumors that have grown or caused more symptoms. It aims to see which approach works better when the tumor is not in the belly.
