Healthy Volunteers

This study measures how the body makes and breaks down proteins throughout life. You drink a small amount of special water (deuterium oxide) and give a few blood, urine, and muscle samples to track protein changes.

Who can take part

  • You must be at least 20 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) should be between 20 and 30.
  • You should be in good overall health, with no major chronic illnesses.
  • You cannot currently smoke or use tobacco.
  • You must be willing to get a muscle biopsy (a tiny sample taken from your leg).
