Who can take part

  • Your child must be under 17 years old.
  • Your child cannot have taken antibiotics in the past month (unless on daily preventive antibiotics for over a month).
  • Your child must not have or be at high risk for HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C.
  • Your child should be coming to the hospital for a specific reason: asthma/wheeze (before or without biologics), a routine procedure (bronchoscopy, GI endoscopy, or orthopedic surgery), or to give a sputum sample and blood test.
  • Your child cannot already be on biologic therapy for asthma (unless they are getting a bronchoscopy).
