Who can take part

  • Your baby must be less than 24 months old.
  • Your baby must be diagnosed with severe asthma by a pediatric lung doctor.
  • Your baby is scheduled for a daytime hospital visit for testing, including a bronchoscopy (a thin tube with a camera to look at the airways).
  • You agree to have your baby take part and sign a consent form.
  • Your baby was not born before 32 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Your baby does not have a heart defect that causes extra blood flow to the lungs.
  • Your baby does not have another chronic lung disease (like cystic fibrosis or bronchiolitis obliterans).
  • Your baby has not taken antibiotics in the last week, or is not currently on antibiotics.
