  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled to have heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine.
  • You are considered high risk because of the type of surgery or other health factors (like age 70 or older, frailty, or a certain risk score).
  • You are not allergic to fish oil, fish, or eggs.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You do not have severe liver or kidney problems.
  • You do not have a serious bleeding disorder.
