  • You are 60 years old or older
  • Your hip fracture was caused by a simple fall (not a car accident or high-energy injury)
  • You were able to walk around your home before the injury (with or without help)
  • You are scheduled for a hip replacement surgery that doesn't use bone cement
  • You are not allergic to the study drug (tranexamic acid)
  • You have never had a blood clot in your leg or lung
