Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have symptoms of a lower respiratory tract infection (like cough, trouble breathing, phlegm, chest pain, or fever) for 21 days or less.
  • Your general practitioner decided that antibiotics are needed for this infection.
  • You do not need to be hospitalized right now.
  • You are not allergic to penicillin or related antibiotics (beta-lactams).
  • You have not used antibiotics or antivirals in the past month.
  • You do not have a chronic lung disease (like COPD, asthma, or lung cancer) or a weakened immune system.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you can consent to participate.
