Who can take part

  • You have stage II or III esophageal squamous cell cancer that can be removed with surgery.
  • You have not had any previous treatment for this cancer (like chemo, radiation, or surgery).
  • You are between 18 and 75 years old, and your general health is good enough for surgery.
  • Your blood counts (hemoglobin, white blood cells, platelets) and liver/kidney function are within a certain healthy range.
  • You do not have an autoimmune disease or a history of certain heart problems, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
