Who can take part

  • You have end-stage kidney disease (kidney failure).
  • You have been on hemodialysis for at least 3 months and are medically stable.
  • You can walk a few steps, even if you need a cane or walker.
  • You have not had a heart attack or unstable chest pain in the last 6 weeks.
  • You have not had a stroke or mini-stroke in the last 6 months, or if you did, it did not leave lasting trouble walking.
  • You do not have other health problems (like muscle, bone, or lung issues) that get worse with exercise or prevent you from doing simple tests.
