Who can take part
- You are 50 years old or older.
- You are either a healthy volunteer, have age-related macular degeneration (AMD), or have small deposits (drusen) in the center of your retina.
- If you have AMD, your vision (with glasses) must be 20/50 (4/10) or better.
- If you are a healthy volunteer, your vision (with glasses) must be 20/30 (6/10) or better if you're 70+, or 20/25 (8/10) if under 70.
- You are not taking medications that could affect your vision, balance, memory, or thinking (like strong sedatives or antipsychotics).
- You do not have other serious eye conditions that might require surgery during the study.
