- You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that your doctor says can be removed with surgery.
- Your cancer is stage cT2-T4a,N0-N+,M0 (meaning it hasn't spread to distant organs).
- You are in good physical condition (ECOG score 0-1) and able to care for yourself.
- You have not had any prior chemotherapy, radiation, or immunotherapy for this cancer or any other cancer.

- You do not have a history of interstitial lung disease, you are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you are willing to use contraception if needed.
