Pain relief for kidney stones at home after ER

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You have sudden side or lower back pain that started quickly, and tests (like urine dipstick or imaging) show it's a kidney stone (renal colic).
  • Your pain level at the time you leave the emergency department is less than 30 on a scale from 0 to 100.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Your kidneys work well enough (creatinine clearance at least 60 ml/min).
