Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (rapid hearing loss in one ear) and have not received treatment for it within the first 5 days after onset
  • You either have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) or do not have tinnitus, or you are a healthy volunteer with normal hearing
  • You can fill out questionnaires, and undergo an fMRI scan (safe brain imaging) and follow-up visits
  • You do not have other ear problems, brain issues, or a history of mental health conditions like anxiety or depression
