Who can take part

  • You are at least 19 years old.
  • You are at least 34 weeks pregnant (34 weeks or more).
  • You are having a planned elective C-section with a single spinal injection (no general anesthesia, epidural, or combined spinal-epidural).
  • You do not have a history of high blood pressure or pregnancy-related blood pressure problems, and you have not recently taken medicine for high blood pressure or certain anxiety medications.
  • You are not allergic to tranexamic acid (TXA) or similar drugs.
  • You can speak and understand English well enough to give consent, and you can arrive at least 90 minutes before your scheduled surgery.
