Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a primary (first-time) or incisional (occurring after a prior surgery) hernia on your belly wall.
  • Your hernia is in the upper middle (epigastric), belly button (umbilical), or lower middle (infraumbilical) area and is between 1 cm and 4 cm across.
  • If you have multiple hernias, the total width is 4 cm or less.
  • You are a candidate for a minimally invasive (keyhole or robotic) surgery.
  • You have not had prior hernia mesh placed in the retromuscular space (a specific layer under the muscle).
