Who can take part
- You must have early coronary artery disease: blocked heart arteries before age 55 (men) or 65 (women).
- A special test (angiogram) must show at least 50% narrowing in one or more heart arteries.
- You need to be scheduled for or have already had a stent or bypass surgery to treat the blockage.
- You cannot have diabetes, very high cholesterol (total > 270 mg/dL or LDL > 190 mg/dL), or a family history of early heart disease.
- You cannot weigh too much (BMI 40 or higher) or have a heavy smoking history (20 pack-years or more).
