Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old.
  • You have had a possible immediate allergic reaction (like hives, swelling, trouble breathing) to a cephalosporin antibiotic such as cefazolin, ceftriaxone, or cephalexin.
  • You do not have a serious medical condition like unstable heart disease, severe lung disease, or kidney failure.
  • You are not currently taking certain medications like beta-blockers or ACE inhibitors for blood pressure, or antihistamines/steroids for allergies (within the last 7 days).
  • You have not had a bad reaction to two or more different cephalosporin antibiotics.
