Who can take part
- You must have normal or slightly high fasting blood sugar (impaired fasting glucose) or normal or slightly high blood sugar after eating (impaired glucose tolerance).
- You cannot have type 2 diabetes (HbA1c must be under 6.5%).
- You cannot take any diabetes medicines like metformin or sulfonylureas.
- If you are a woman, you cannot be pregnant.
- You cannot have had upper abdominal surgery (like gastric banding, pyloroplasty, or vagotomy).
- You cannot have an active serious illness, cancer, or major blood vessel problems.
