Who can take part
- You have either liver cancer that started in the liver (hepatocellular carcinoma) or cancer that spread to the liver from elsewhere (metastatic), and the largest tumor is 4 cm or smaller.
- Your liver function must be rated as Child-Pugh Class A or B (not severe liver failure).
- There can be only 1 or 2 tumors in your liver — not 3 or more.
- The tumor should not be touching the main blood vessels or bile ducts in the liver too closely (within 5 mm).
- Your blood clotting must be relatively normal (platelets above 50,000 and INR not too high).
