Who can take part

  • You must be under 18 years old (for healthy children) or under 12 months old (for high-risk babies).
  • Your baby must weigh more than 3 kilograms (about 6.6 pounds).
  • You or your baby must already be scheduled for a cardiac MRI with a special contrast dye called ferumoxytol as part of routine care.
  • If your baby has chronic lung disease, they must be on a breathing tube or tracheostomy.
  • If your baby has had surgery for abnormal pulmonary veins, they must be under 12 months old.
  • A parent or guardian must give permission.
