Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes within the last 5 years.
  • You also have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
  • Your blood sugar is fairly well-controlled with diet and exercise, or you take 1 or 2 diabetes pills (like metformin or sulfonylurea) for at least 8 weeks.
  • Your most recent HbA1c (average blood sugar test) is between 7.0% and 8.5%.
  • You do not have serious heart, liver, kidney, or other major health problems that could interfere with the study.
